Devon Lauer has 7 years of experience in building development, design, and consulting. Prior to joining Brick Lane, Devon worked in development at JBG Smith providing hands-on leadership and execution for Washington, DC area projects valued at over $800M and totaling 2.8M square feet. These included multifamily residential (for lease and for sale), office, retail, and senior living across multiple jurisdictions. Devon has experience with all phases of development--acquisition, entitlement, design, financing, construction, lease-up and disposition. She specializes in development projects involving complex entitlement efforts and interest alignment among multiple stakeholders—other developers, JV partners, lenders, GSA, jurisdictional authorities, etc.
Devon’s experience spans large-scale mixed-use development work for both private and public capital, as well as high performance building consulting and energy management. Prior to JBG Smith, Devon worked at The Cadmus Group (Bethesda, MD) in their Built Environment Division, and previously at Southface Energy Institute (Atlanta, GA). In both roles, she focused on delivery and ongoing performance of sustainable, energy efficient buildings for private, public-sector, and nonprofit clients. Her work additionally included managing a team who completed LEED certifications on behalf of the U.S. Green Building Council, leading LEED AP training courses, conducting energy audits as well as other sustainable building initiatives.
Devon has a Master’s Degree in Real Estate with a concentration in Finance from Georgetown University (2016) as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and Architectural Engineering from Duke University (2010). Devon is originally from Bucks County, PA and has been enjoying life in the Washington, DC area since 2011. Devon is a member of the Urban Land Institute and is active in several other real estate industry groups.
